We transplanted some Black Haw trees from the woods to a spot where they can get more light and thrive. We harvested root bark and bark from some to make a tincture to be used for menstrual cramps or muscle spasms. Eclectic doctors thought it boosted fertility. “It was customary for planters to compel female slaves to drink an infusion of black haw daily whilst pregnant to prevent abortion”
